Day 1 – Salvador

Salvador – As the first capital of Brazil, Salvador da Bahia witnessed the blending of European, African and Amerindian cultures. It was in 1558 that the first slave market was established in the New World, with slaves arriving to work on the sugar plantations. The city has managed to preserve many outstanding Renaissance buildings. A special feature of the old town is the brightly colored houses, often decorated with fine stucco-work. Beyond the historical aspects and architecture, you can walk along the beach or enjoy the typical “baiana” cuisine with its local spices.

Day 2 – Historical City Tour

Historical City Tour - Today, after breakfast, you will go on a city tour around the town and you will visit the so famous Pelourinho, the recently restored historical center of Salvador, UNESCO’s World Heritage Cultural Site, plus you will see the Capoeira dancers and Olodum players. It’s a trip back to the Colonial period of Brazil as you stroll along the cobble stoned streets and experience this unique northeast culture.

Pelourinho – It is known as the place that is the house of baroque architecture of Salvador in which there are more than 800 old houses transformed into pubs, restaurants and pousadas (small hotels). In the upwards narrow cobble stoned streets, one finds art, culture and entertainment.

Day 3 – Boat Tour

  • Transfer back to the hotel

Tips Duirng Your Free time in Salvador – you can exploit the city on your own. Maybe go to the beach if the weather allows you to do so, or go back to the historical part of the city and get involved with the evolution of the first capital of Brazil. You might want to join a “Capoeira” class and learn how to do it. In the evening, you can go to a local show or have dinner at an unforgettable “baiano” restaurant.
